Success of the First Edition of Africa Municipal Bonds Forum

On 25 and 26 April 2016, African cities, local, regional, financial, and private sector leaders gathered in the City of Dakar in the framework of the first Inaugural Africa Municipal Bonds Forum (AMBF).

This highly important forum was organized by Markets of Africa in partnership with United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa). The host city, Dakar, welcomed 270 participants from 20 different countries all gathered to address the issues of municipal bonds in Africa.

Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of UCLG Africa summarized the Forum by saying: “the participants commend and request the organizers to continue organizing this type of forum to popularize the issue of municipal bonds overall Africa”. Kampala City has proposed to host the 2017 Forum.
