Call for projects: “Trophies Initiatives climate COP22 for Africa countries”

Heading towards COP 22, which will held at Marrakech (Morocco) from 7 to 18 November 2016, a call for projects for “Trophies Initiatives climate COP 22, for African countries” will be open from 1 April to 30 June 2016. United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG-A) is a partner in this initiative whose purpose is to develop projects to combat climate change on the African continent.

Droughts, floods, storms, sea-level rise, migration, climate change lead to adopt new ways of life, to change habits, to transform our economies. In Africa, a variety of stakeholders: Local authorities, civil society organizations, Green businesses, imagine innovative ‘climate initiatives’. Thus, collection of initiatives, trophies, Media coverage, Side events are the different components of a contribution that can take African countries to the COP22 through the project to which everyone can contribute.

Candidates will be able to compete in three categories:

-Local authorities (small, medium and large)

– Civil society

– Green Entrepreneurs organizations (women, youth, etc.).

In total, 13 awards will be issued following the rules available here.

It is also possible to participate in:

-Submitting a ‘climate initiative‘ that will be referenced in a book put on line.

-Supporting documentation of initiatives in your country or region.

The ‘Trophies Initiatives climate COP22 for African countries’ project is led in partnership with Swiss Cooperation (SDC), the Institute of Francophonie for the sustainable development (IFDD), the United Nations Programme for development (UNDP Morocco) and United Cities and Local Governments of Africa  (UCLG-A).
