The Summit for Local and Regional Leaders on November 12, 2017 offered the opportunity to present the Declaration of Local and Subnational Leaders of Africa adopted during the second edition of the World Climate Chance Summit, which took place from September 11-13, 2017 in Agadir (Morocco). The presentation was made during the proceedings of Panel 2: ‘Collaborative Climate Action: Integrated Planning and Sustainable Investment in Cities and Regions.’
Mayors and presidents from the various African regions were mobilized in Agadir by United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) and adopted the ‘Declaration of Local and Subnational Leaders of Africa: Fighting against climate change in Africa together.’
In Bonn, Mr. Donation Beugre, President of the San Pedro Region (Côte d’Ivoire), acted as spokesperson for his colleagues and together with Mr. Ronan Dantec, President of the Climate Chance association, recounted the commitment of African elected officials to implement climate plans with the involvement of all territorial stakeholders including citizens, associations, economic stakeholders, etc.
Progress reports will be presented at the 2018 Africities Summit to be organized by UCLG Africa in Morocco.
