Call for applications for the recruitment of the Secretary General of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa)
UCLG Africa, the umbrella organisation representing some 17,000 local authorities in Africa, grouped together within 51 national associations of local authorities and headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, is recruiting a Secretary General.
Under the responsibility of the political authorities, the Secretary General of UCLG Africa provides executive leadership to the organisation and, as such, is responsible for implementing its policy and intervention strategy, managing and coordinating the working teams and all activities, and mobilising the financial and technical resources required to carry out these activities.
Workplace
Rabat, Morocco
Diploma
Bachelor’s degree or higher in the following fields: law, economics and finance, political science, public administration, engineering, urban and regional planning, territorial development, urban services, international relations and related disciplines.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in a management position in an international or regional organisation, or in a public institution, ideally related to local governance or territorial development in Africa. Proven experience in strategic management, partnership development, and financial resource mobilisation.

Policies and strategies for decentralisation and development of cities and territories in Africa
Fluent in the two working languages of UCLG Africa (English and French); fluency in other official languages of the African Union is an asset
