XII Metropolis World Congress in Montreal: A gathering of the world’s major cities
The President of Metropolis and Mayor of Montreal, the Honourable Denis Coderre, will welcome the world’s major cities from June 19 to 22 at the XII Metropolis World Congress.
Coming together under the theme “Global Challenges: Major Cities in Action,” 100 mayors and more than 1,000 local and international delegates, including elected officials, experts, city planners, business people and academics, will be in Montreal this June to discuss key challenges facing metropolises on all continents: environment, inclusion and living together, economic development, smart cities, mobility and urban planning, as well as metropolitan leadership and governance on both a local and a global scale.

As part of the operationalization of the African Local Government Academy (ALGA) of UCLGAfrica and under the implementation of its Strategic Plan (2017-2021) for training and capacity building for African local authorities and their networks in terms, the Academy will make continuous training one of its priorities through the setting up of a series of Colleges around themes that are crucial for decentralization, local governance and local development.Under these themes, ALGA will launch the College of Participatory Budget.
