Regional Workshop on “MY JMDI TOOLBOX” on Migration and Local Development

The Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI) and the Territorial Coaching Program have organized a local workshop on the “My JMDI Toolbox” training materials. The workshop took place in the capital city of the Moroccan Oriental Region, Oujda in Mohamed the 1st University campus.

The regional workshop on “My JMDI Toolbox” on migration and local development was officially launched, on February 16, 2016, with the aim to raise the awareness of the local development actors regarding the potential of migration through capacity building of these actors.

In fact, the Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI), launched during June 2015 in Torino, Italy, will bring knowledge and capacities to the local level in order to allow local authorities to deal effectively with migration towards development. In this perspective, this “tool box” was designed, adjusted and modulated to answer particular needs of local authorities.

The Oriental Regional Council, the Oriental Development Agency, UCLG Africa and International Organization for Migration (IOM) all joined forces, in July 2015, in the framework of the regional program Territorial Coaching to deal with the contribution of migration to the development of territories. The aim is to optimize, within the region, the participation of immigrants in the local affairs.
