Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable (based on performance and funding)
Expected Start Date: July 7, 2025

1. Background

UCLG Africa is the umbrella organization representing local and regional governments of Africa, working for the sustainable development of African cities and territories. The organization has been headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, since January 2008, and holds diplomatic status as a pan-African international organization. UCLG Africa hosts the Technical Support Unit of the African Adaptation Initiative (AAI-TSU).
UCLG Africa seeks to recruit an accountant as part of the strengthening of the AAI-TSU

2. Purpose of the Position

Ensure proper and compliant keeping of general and analytical accounts, contribute to the preparation of internal and external financial reports, and ensure compliance with financial and tax procedures.

3. Main Responsibilities

• Record accounting transactions in accordance with applicable standards;
• Manage cash flow, payments, and maintain cash and bank journals;
• Monitor supplier contracts and expenditure commitments;
• Contribute to the preparation of periodic financial statements and donor financial
reports;
• Participate in budget preparation and monitoring;
• Support the annual account closing and audit preparation;
• Ensure compliance with tax, social security, and legal obligations;
• File and archive supporting accounting documents.

4. Required Profile

• Degree in accounting, finance, or management (minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s level);
• At least 5 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, and management, in a
company or non-profit environment, and ideally within local governments;
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, etc.);
• Familiarity with donor requirements (EU, AFD, UNDP, etc.);
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines;
• Discretion and strict respect for confidentiality;
• Ability to work in a team within a multicultural environment
