Participation of UCLG Africa in the IASIA Annual Conference on the theme: ‘Shaping the Future of Governance: Transforming Mindsets, Strengthening Skills, and Expanding Knowledge 

The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) held its Annual Conference in Mexico City, at the headquarters of the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), from 13 to 17 October 2025, under the leadership of Dr Najat Zarrouk, Director of Capacity Building and ALGA at UCLG Africa, former member of the United Nations CEPA and in her capacity as President of IASIA. This Conference also marked the end of the IASIA Management Board’s term of office (2022-2025). It was also part of the activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the creation of INAP, whose objective is to support and promote public administration, public governance and the civil service in Mexico. 

Some 300 participants representing 44 countries, including IASIA members, leaders representing public institutions, practitioners, professors, students, representatives of various components of civil society, the private sector, and international and regional organisations. 

The opening ceremony, chaired by Dr Ricardo Corral, Director of CECAP at INAP, featured inspiring speeches by:  

Dr Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Indian Government, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Department of Pensions and Retired Welfare, President of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), India.  

Dr Luis Miguel Martinez Anzures, President of INAP, Mexico.  

Dr Najat Zarrouk, Director of Capacity Building and ALGA, UCLG Africa, President of IASIA, former member of UN-CEPA.  

Dr Sofiane Sahraoui, Director General of IIAS, Belgium.
