33rd session of the Executive Committee of UCLG Africa in Nouakchott 

On 27 and 28 June 2025, the 33rd ordinary session of the Executive Committee of the pan-African organisation United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) will be held in Nouakchott (Mauritania). The meeting is being organised in collaboration with the Nouakchott Region. 

This 33rd session of the Executive Committee will mainly focus on approving the organisation’s accounts for 2023 and 2024, reviewing the organisation’s restructuring process, and preparing for the General Assembly and the assemblies of UCLG Africa’s political networks. 

The following leaders of UCLG Africa are expected to attend this important meeting in person: 

-Ms. Fatimetou Abdel Malick, Ms. Fatimetou Abdel Malick, President of the Nouakchott Region (Mauritania) and President of UCLG Africa ; 

– Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o, Governor of Kisumu and Vice-President of UCLG Africa for the East Africa region ; 

– Mr. Adrien Nguema Mba, Special Delegate, City of Libreville and Vice-President of UCLG Africa for the Central Africa region; 

-Mr. Mounir Lymouri, President of the Moroccan Association of Municipal Council Presidents (AMPCC) ; 

– Ms. Odette Uwizeye, President of the Rwanda Association of Local Governments (RALGA) ; 

– Mr. Oumar Ba, President of the Association of Mayors of Senegal (AMS) ; 

– Mr. Augustin Tamba, President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) ; 

– Mr. Hormatollah Erragheb, President of the Network of Young Elected Local Officials of Africa (YELO) 

– Mr. Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of UCLG Africa.  

As a reminder, the Executive Committee of UCLG Africa is the body responsible for the political leadership of the organisation. The Executive Committee is composed of 18 members, 15 members elected by the UCLG Africa General Assembly (3 for each of the 5 regions of Africa), and 3 ex-officio members, namely, the President of the Network of local elected Women of Africa (REFELA), which is the Standing Committee on Gender Equality of UCLG Africa; the President of the Forum of African Regions (FORAF); and the President of the Network of Young Elected Local Officials of Africa (YELO).
