Visit at UCLG Africa headquarters by a Delegation of Yobe State (Nigeria)   

On Monday 10 February 2025 a delegation of Yobe State (Nigeria) led by BABA MALAM WALI, The secretary to the State Government, met with the Secretary General of UCLG Africa, Mr. Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, at the organization’s headquarters in Rabat.  

 The working session focused on how Yobe State and UCLG Africa can work together on several thematic such as: capacity building, climate change, decentralization cooperation, etc. 

The Yobe delegation was particularly interest to be involved in the African Fund for International Decentralized Cooperation (FACDI in French) initiated by the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Morocco and where the African Local Government Academy (ALGA) of UCLG Africa operate as facilitator in the process.  

M.Wali said Yobe government would hasten registration process to facilitate the programme and the state government would explore opportunities for capacity building for local government staff, especially through partenership beetwen ALGA and the College of Administration Management and Technology (CAMTEC) Potiskum. 

There are windows for the local governments to benefit from effectively combat climate change, desert encroachment and floods. There are opportunities to source funds from the Green Climate Fund to support the fight against climate change and its consequences on the people,” explained Mr. Elong Mbassi to thier hosts.
