#THINKONIT “Without Equal Parts we Cannot be Whole”
#Thinkonit, the awareness campaign for women’s rights.
The photographic campaign to raise awareness on gender equality and promote the fight against discrimination, conceived by COPPEM and signed by the photographer Danilo Iurato, was launched on Friday 16 December 2022 in the hall entitled to Pio La Torre at the seat of the Sicilian Regional Parliament. The photographic campaign will be posted in the center of Palermo and will have an international dissemination, thanks to the support of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), Platforma, the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), the Region of Sicily and Fidapa BPW Sicily district. The awareness campaign aims at promoting gender equality by focusing on narrow portraits of women and men obscured in half, a symbol whose purpose is to raise awareness on the consequences of stereotypes in our societies.
The official launch of the campaign was followed by the roundtable “Which political actions to ensure the participation of women in the institutional life of Euro-Med Local Governments?” The panelists were: Francesco Sammaritano, general secretary of COPPEM, Asmaa Rhlalou, mayor of Rabat, Catherine Moureaux, mayor of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Hanan Kaoud, member of the Municipal Council of Ramallah, Nadjiba Djillali, president of the Popular Assembly of Algeria and Valentina Chinnici, member of the Sicilian Regional Parliament.
