Signature of a framework partnership agreement between the Association of Mayors of Mauritania and UCLG Africa

On 02 August 2022 in Nouakchott (Mauritania), the Association of Mayors of Mauritania (AMM) signed a framework partnership agreement with UCLG Africa. The document was sign by Mr. Ahmed H’Meimed, President of the AMM and Mr. Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of UCLG Africa. The signing was done on the sidelines of the 27th session of the Executive Committee of UCLG Africa.

The purpose of the framework agreement is to define, organize and strengthen the working relationship and collaboration between the  AMM and the General Secretariat of UCLG Africa around the fundamentals and the three pillars of the Ten-Year Action Plan 2021-2030 of UCLG Africa (GADDEPA 2.0), namely:

Fundamentals: Establishment of the basic elements ensuring the institutional development and sustainability of the members and networks of UCLG Africa;

Pillar 1- Dialogue and Advocacy in favor of decentralization and local governments;

Pillar 2- Capacity building of leaders, elected officials and local administrations;

Pillar 3 – Setting up projects and seeking funding for their implementation.

The AMM is also committed to organizing the celebration of: International Women’s Day on March 8 each year; Africa Day on May 25 each year; African Decentralization Day on August 10 each year; and International Migrants Day on December 18 each year.

The framework agreement was concluded for a period of five (5) years, renewable by tacit agreement.
