Launch of the partnership project between the Provincial Council (PC) of Tiznit in Morocco and the City of Shomolu-Bariga of Lagos State in Nigeria
On 04 April 2022, the African Academy of Local Government (ALGA) of UCLG Africa facilitated the launching ceremony of the partnership project between the Provincial Council (PC) of Tiznit in Morocco and the City of Shomolu-Bariga of Lagos State in Nigeria. The partnership focuses on “Promoting Social, Inclusive and Resilient Governance through the promotion of Solidarity Tourism”.
The online meeting was attended by the Governor of Tiznit, representatives of the DGCT, the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Prefectural and Provincial Councils (AMPCPP), UCLG Africa and the International Governance Institute (IIG). This partnership project falls within the framework of the African Support Fund for International Decentralized Cooperation (AFIDC) of the General Directorate of Moroccan Local Authorities of the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This project targets solidarity tourism actors, territorial institutional actors, training structures in the field of tourism and civil society actors. The project employs 150 people directly with 15 new projects created and 2000 people indirectly:
– the existing tourist projects on the territory are accompanied and the good practices are implemented
– new projects are set up and local populations are fully involved
– communities, especially men, are committed to supporting women’s rights and breaking stereotypes.
