Regional Dialogues

Regional Dialogues in the West Africa Region promote how local governments play a key role in entrenching democracy and providing services to citizens. In terms of our regional dialogues we focus on the fact that many of the services and processes for which local government has responsibility, actively contribute to the goals and objectives of ECOWAS. These local governments also play a key role in the process of regional integration and economic development in the sub-region. The United Cities and Local Governments Africa, through the West Africa Regional Office, have opened a dialogue with the institutions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ensuring a regional process of integration that also reflects the needs and strengths of local government to improve the livelihoods of the West African population.
